“ Wow! Whistle Stop Cafe is just WOW! Everyone loved what they ordered. I had the bacon cheese burger with a side of onion rings. The side was made from a full onion so I couldn’t finish it all. A pity because they were the best onion rings I’ve ever had! The atmosphere was amazing. It’s was busy, but not chaotic, just steady. ”
“ A rare gem of a small, home-style restaurant. It’s a tiny cafe on the east side of Decatur. So glad I found this place! My meal was delicious and made from scratch. The chocolate pie was delicious too. No complaints. Great service. Will definitely be back ... ”
“ Took a motorcycle trip out here with a group of friends. First time for all of us to visit the whistle stop Cafe and let me tell you an amazing stop and so glad we did. The food was delicious. The staff super friendly and the atmosphere was great! Definitely worth a stop anytime you're nearby! ”
“ A great place to enjoy a good country style breakfast. Service is great, you'll never encounter an empty coffee cup. They also have a beautiful selection of fresh baked homemade pies! The setting is awesome! This cafe was established in the 1920's. The cafe is part of a perfectly preserved early 1900's motel and gas station complex built of petrified wood. Take the time to stroll around after eating! ”
“ Very good place, I stopped in Decatur for a quick bite to eat and left very full the biscuits and gravy were very rich n flavor and u can say the biscuit was amazing, I loved every aspect of the cafe. The old diner feel the old town vibe. To the locals talking about the local talent and how they are playing state champions, super dope, I gotta go back and try the chili and the pies they looked very good ”
“ Nice little restaurant that caters to locals and tourists. The food is good. The place is part of the historic Texas Turist Camp Complex covered with petrified wood. ”
“ Sit yer caboose at the Whistle Stop for some good groceries in a classic throw-back, but not kitschy restaurant. Homemade pies are always a good start, the lunch specials have generous portions, and the menu items are tasty as well. Not a bunch of tables and popular with the locals so can get filled up at noon which slows the kitchen some, but the food is fresh and hot, the locals friendly and the service hustles. Then check out the station next door made entirely of petrified wood! ”
“ Cute little place with a mom and pop feel. 2 lunch specials, 1 burger, 3 drinks, and a slice of pie was 60 before tax and tip. I'm adding pics of the menu, but they have signs up that due to raising food costs they add 2 to each item. Husband and teen LOVED IT. I didn't love it as much because I had to hear repeatedly from my child how their food is so much better than mine. Mixed feelings on that. Go, go early. Try to make it at 11. There's only a few tables. They close at 2, closed on weekends. ”
